Have you ever heard the phone ring and knew who was calling, only to answer and have the person you thought of on the other end of the line?
Have you ever thought of someone who you haven’t seen in quite some time, wondered how they are, only to bump into them in the store or on the street?
Whether you answered yes to the questions above, or if these things happen to you often, doesn’t matter. We are all Intuitive Creations of the Divine. The real question each of us should be asking ourselves is: How often do I trust the intuitive information I’m receiving?
Edgar Mitchell, the Apollo Astronaut said, ‘It (our Intuitive abilities) should be known as our first sense and not our sixth sense.’ We should be relying upon this connection with our divine nature in all that we do.
The difficulty is for us to Trust the hunches, feelings and information that we receive on such a subtle level. This is a result of our societal conditioning and history as a civilization that tells us this information is ‘wrong, bad, evil, dark, etc.’ We also find it easier to have others tell us what is best in our lives and thus never have to take responsibility for ourselves; we always have a list of others to blame.
This can be seen in what I like to call the ‘shopping of opinions’. We all have a friend (or maybe it is ourselves) that contact multiple people to ask their ‘opinion’ of what they should do in this or that situation in their lives. They take a sort of ‘census’ of opinion before making a decision, or they are just looking for the one person that can justify their thinking, wants and desires, so they have someone to blame later. Whatever the motivation, I would suggest you follow your initial reaction and steer clear of offering advice to these individuals. Instead, ask them about the options they have before them and mirror back the outcomes. After all, why would you want to take on more responsibility for their life than they are willing to take? It is their life after all.
One way in which I use my ‘intuitive abilities’ daily is by keeping track of the people that cross my mind. When a person comes to mind suddenly, I write their name on list of things to do and give that person a call within the next 24 hours. The comment I get from them when I call is always the same, “Bob, I was just thinking about calling you. I have some questions on…”
By simply ‘paying attention’ to this intuition that we all have, I’ve been able to take my level of customer service to a higher level. Along with this has come a greater responsibility, for I’m also answering the ‘intuitive hotline’ my customers are calling on and some of them have come to rely upon this form of nonverbal communication with me.
There are some simple ways to increase your connection with your intuitive (divine) nature.
Silence is Golden – Take a few minutes at the beginning of each day and sit silently. Breathe and focus your attention inwardly. Let your thoughts pass by without grasping or acknowledging them. Simply breathe and ask for ‘divine guidance for your day’.
Natural Connection – Take out the ear buds and connect with nature. When you take your walk (with or without the dogs) or go on your run, pay attention to the birds, the trees, the flowers and the leaves. Breathe and observe what is around you. Listen to the sounds of the breeze and the songs of the birds.
Ask – Asking for help is often seen as a sign of weakness in our society and requires a humbling of our ego. However, we will never know the answer to the questions in our life if we don’t ask them. Simply breathe and ask for help from your divine nature, call on guides or angels, or simply pray. Then quietly pay attention, for the answer will come. Maybe not right away or in the way we might expect; just trust, for the answer will come.
Our intuitive guidance comes in various ways. It may be a flash of inspiration, a deep ‘knowing’ and ‘understanding’, an unconnected thought that provides the answer, a smell, an image, a sensation or a sound. The way in which information is received is as unique to you as you are as an individual. The key is to pay attention to these subtle messages of the divine and to trust.
Trust. I keep coming back to this word. Most of us have been taught to doubt ourselves, to distrust the information we ‘know’ within us. Others of us have been grounded in logic and have difficulty stepping outside of the structure of our thoughts. Those disconnected, disjointed thoughts are ethereal and to be dismissed, when in actuality these are the answers to our deepest questions in life.
Learning to live a more intuitively inspired life is not ‘difficult’, ‘hard’ or ‘work’. It is simply a matter of paying attention to the thoughts, feelings, inspirations and knowing that arise from within you. This does take some discipline; no different than the discipline that is needed to keep physically fit or earn a living. Make it a part of your routine and integrate it into your day.
Life doesn’t have to be a struggle; the answers are within you and around you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from others as well. Not their advice, but for their guidance, mentoring, counsel and assistance in learning to grow in your own answers and intuitive abilities. Those that are living an intuitively (divinely) guided life will help you to trust your own intuitive abilities and help you to connect with the divine creation that you are.
Trust your intuition and start living the magical life that is you.
