Dedicated to Inspired Expressions of Life's Energy
Memorial perspectives - 5/26/09
A mist moved in whisps beneath the canopy of the trees as we walked the long ago forest that was stained with blood by those that lived upon this land. A sign spoke of the struggle that occured in this place.
Later we visited the small make shift fort that protected the people that settled what was to them a wilderness. Signs along the path leading to the small wood enclosure told the tale of the families that banded together to defend their homes.
Both of these locations told the story from one perspective, leaving out the struggles and perspectives of the Natives way of life. The settlers of this nation understood the possesion of the land, the crops and the tools of survival they brought with them. They harvested the resources and minerals of the land for their own. Yet no where was the understanding that the Natives held regarding the gifts this land bestows for the good of all.
How freeing is there perspective on this world.
Take a deep breath. Who owns this air that we share? Sip some cool water. Who owns that which flows freely from here to there? That which gives life to the animals, the people and the land. Who owns the animals that run freely through the forests and the meadows? Who then should own the land that grows our crops and from which all life is given?
