What to watch on television was always a matter of argument growing up. My brothers and sisters were always of differing opinions on which of the three channels were to be watched during ‘prime-time’. However, there were always a few shows we could all agree on. One of which was Ripley’s Believe it or Not.
Of course, this made me happy, for the contents of the show were the buzz of the playground and I didn’t want to be the ‘nerd’ who didn’t see the latest episode. Little did I know that avoiding ‘nerd-dom’ was out of reach for me in the end.
I didn’t know at that tender age is that what we believe becomes what matters in our life.
Please allow my inner ‘nerd’ to come out and take this from a Quantum Physics approach to this idea. Our belief energy is the wave of potential that becomes the physical matter of our life. In other words we experience the reality of our beliefs in our daily experiences.
Now, I’m not talking about the dogma or doctrine that we might prescribe to. Instead, I’m speaking of something much more fundamental within us.
All beliefs are individual. Each of the beliefs we hold are uniquely our own. They extend from our personal experiences, thoughts, emotions and understandings.
We may affiliate ourselves with like minded groups, organizations and institutions, yet each individual within these groups has their own unique compilation of beliefs. Not only about the purpose, cause, dogma or doctrine uniting the group, more importantly about themselves, their lives and the reality they experience.
Our beliefs are reflected in the reality we experience in our daily life; whether they are conscious, or yet to become conscious. Our perceptions, thoughts, emotions and actions are governed by our beliefs.
While growing up I had consistently heard that I was the ‘brainy kid’ and that my brother Bill was the ‘brawny kid’. My projects from shop class were ridiculed and Bill Cosby had nothing on me when it came to being stopped from picking up a hammer to assist with a project. Quickly, I took on the belief that I wasn’t very skilled with my hands and that I should stick to ‘book work’.
When Lisa and I bought our home fourteen years ago, I found myself with a real ‘fixer-upper’ and a belief that I wasn’t skillful when it came to projects. With a limited budget and a lot of trepidation I began taking on small projects that led to the gutting of rooms and major remodeling. This ‘nerd’ learned he could be quite handy and the old beliefs of others that had been internalized had to go.
Likewise, the experiences we have are a manifestation of these individual beliefs.
Yep, I just used that dreaded ‘M’ word, ‘manifestation’. I know it’s over used in our current lingo, along with the ‘A’ word, ‘attraction’. Yet, there is only one other word that better describes how our beliefs are reflected in our life, Creation.
You are the creator of your life, your reality and the events that occur in your realm of experience. All of this creation is a reflection of your inner most beliefs; conscious or not yet conscious to you.
The things you believe as an individual are revealed to you subtly in the thoughts you think, the emotions you feel and the events of your life. And every one of us holds beliefs that are as unique to us as our fingerprint is.
We are individually the creator of our own lives and are responsible for the life we are living. The matchless expression of your beliefs is reflected in the unrivaled and unduplicated life that is your own.
Now, some of you may be saying, “This couldn’t be true, Bob, but this or that area of my life isn’t very fun right now (of course other expletives could be inserted here).” Or even, “I didn’t ask for these things to be happening in my life right now.”
Well, it is true and they are happening in accordance to what you believe. The amount of beliefs that exist are infinite and can be changed as easily, or as difficultly as you believe they can be.
There is one simple way to determine the validity of a belief. Bring it into your consciousness and ask, “Is what I believe about (you fill in the blank) limit my vitality and spontaneity as a soul being?”
If it does, change the belief. Tweak it. Alter it in even the smallest of ways and it changes the belief and the reality you experience. Create a new belief and you create a new reality.
Believe it or Not.
‘Forget the cringing selves that you sometimes are and remember instead the magic essence of your own being that sings even now through your fingertips. That is the reality which you are seeking. Experience it fully.’ Seth – Jane Roberts
